Iceland have had a mixed tournament so far, edging past Norway 26:25 before slumping to a surprise 39:38 defeat against Belarus in their second EHF EURO 2016 match.
There is more to the Iceland players than meets the eye though. They are determined and skilled on the court, but they prove to be versatile and entrepreneurial off it.
Gudjon Valur Sigurdsson, Iceland's left wing who is playing his ninth EHF EURO, is the co-owner of a restaurant in Kópavogur. Flatbakan serves traditional Italian pizza and enjoys name and fame across Iceland.
"I am not a pizza baker, but good ingredients, good bakers and a nice atmosphere in the restaurant makes, in my opinion, the pizza taste even better," says Sigurdsson.
His colleague and goalkeeper Björgvin Pall Gustavsson, who has played more than 150 matches for Iceland, previously ventured into the unlikely business of making hair gel.
"It started at the 2008 Olympic games. I couldn't find a good hair gel so my teammate and I had a joke that we'll make our own hair gel, so we did," explained Gustavsson.
